Spring Series Race #4
Hosted by:
Haywire Raceway

Hostmaster Haywire says "this job sucks!"

Award Winning Haywire Hospitality
Once again Garry Haworth demonstrated exactly why Haywire Raceway is the Premier H.O. Slot Car Raceway. It you don’t believe it just ask him! Speed Merchants attacked the unique and always thrilling “Haywire” layout after a lunch of sesame marinated BBQ chicken, the house specialty.

Unfortunately, the rapid-fire Speed Merchants race format didn’t leave much idle time to watch Haywire’s big screen TV or play with his new DSL internet connection!

Speed Merchants have too much fun! Modified podium

Speed Merchants In The News
Scale Auto Racing News, that is. Apparently John Ford liked what he saw on the Speed Merchants web site and reprinted the Spring Series Race #2 results from Haywire Raceway (complete with podium shots) in the March 2000 issue of SARN. Now the entire slot car world knows WE DON’T NEED NO STINKIN’ TURN MARSHALS!!!

In fact the latest issue of SARN has no less than seven pages devoted strictly to H.O. slot car racing coverage including numerous manufacturer ads. You can contact SARN for subscription information at (361) 758-7223 or fordpub@2fords.net.

April Fools Day Enduro Was No Laughing Matter!
Ruiz Raceway hosted the inaugural Speed Merchants Progressive Enduro on Saturday April 1 featuring Modified, R/O and Neo cars. 100% cash payback meant that $80 was on the line and it was winner take all. No joke!

Come and race you fool!!

Yes indeed, Speed Merchants races for fun AND profit!

What's The Point Of All This???
The Speed Merchants Championship Points Series is based on the best five out of six races. With four races already in the books the leading contenders in each class are beginning to separate themselves from the pack. Or are they?

The tabled points totals don’t have the lowest race dropped, something that won’t actually be known until the Spring Series is over. But since all three class series are well under way, and since nobody’s name has been engraved on any trophies or plaques yet, let the Las Vegas odds makers have a field day with their predictions!

And speaking of trophies and plaques, a quick glance at the Money Matters report shows how much money is accumulating and how fast to fuel even more speculation. How gladly are we willing to reward ourselves with the fruits of our racing prowess? Very.

Good thing no money EVER gets "dropped" when it comes to the Speed Merchants Money Matters  treasury!

They Did It Again!
Is it coincidence? Just like last time out every Speed Merchants car entered also finished running at full song in Neos. Is it due to the reliability and durability of the Panthers and Patriots that are so popular on the Tech Sheets? Possibly. Is it because the Speed Merchants themselves bring well prepared equipment to race? Probably. Do the Speed Merchants Technical Rules support both? Definitely. And we still don’t need no stinkin’ turn marshals! !
