The Board of directors has decided to cancel the 2001 TOA convention for August 16-19 for logistical and budgetary reasons as well as time constraints. Although the board considers the convention a very necessary part of the growth and success of the TOA we are focusing now on building up the communications with the member base and hobby industry in general. We are sad to see that our good friend Ray Gardner, treasurer and newsletter editor for TOA over the last decade had to step down from his post. His efforts have given the slot car industry a major boost to it's growth with his tireless contributions and we look forward to seeing Ray in and around the track in the future.

The TOA board suggests that for those of you who are looking to maximize your time this summer in the slotcar/hobby industry and gather info on new ideas there are two possibilities for you around the former August date of the TOA convention. One is the "Challenge Cup National" sponsored by Parma.  June 15-17 in Cleveland Ohio. Many representatives of the slot car industry will be there. The other choice is the "International Model & Hobby Expo" sponsored by RCHTA in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, Illinois. September 6-9. Again the board of directors at the Track Owners Association look forward to working with you on building a better slotcar/hobby industry for now and in the future.
