The 2nd MI/OH UFHORA Race of the 2002 season was held on Sunday February 24, 2002 at the Toledo Speedway in Toledo, Ohio. Super Stock and Modified classes were run. Brian, and Rick were very gracious hosts, and they run an awesome slot car/NASCAR shop.

Racing action was very fast on their Velocity Dome track. (My neck was very sore from following the cars on those fast straights). In Amateur Super Stock Jay “youg punk” Minna was the top gun running a P-3 with 317 laps, followed by Andy Gibson in 2nd place running a P-2 with 305 laps, and shop owner Brian Chase came in 3rd place running a P-3 with 288 laps. Pro Super Stock presented a close race with Dave Bogosian in 1st place running a P-3 with 528 laps, Mike Shanks in 2nd place running a Panther with 522 laps (Mike was the top gun in SS with a best lap time of 2.64 sec ), and Dave “Cincy” Craft coming in 3rd place running a P-3 with 518 laps.

The Modified race saw some very fast cars. In Amateur Mod Andy Gibson came in 1st running a P-2 (with believe it or not a stock front-end, and stock gears) with 367 laps, (watch out for this guy, he is a very good driver), Brian Chase came in 2nd running a P-3 with 338 laps, and Jay “young punk” Minna came in 3rd place running a Super G+ with 307 laps. In the Pro Mod ranks we had some very exciting racing. “Cincy” Dave Craft came in 1st place running a P-2 with 615 laps, Mike Shanks came in 2nd place running a Panther with 612 laps, and Dave Bogosian came in 3rd place running a P-3 with 606 laps. Dave was also the TQ with a best lap time of 2.194 sec.

Tony Minna won the best appearing race car award. Thanks to Bob and Cheryl from Wizzard for the great race prizes, and we will see you all next month at John Jiskra’s Farmington Hills Raceway.
