Speed Merchants welcomes Mike "Miker" Risinger and John "Z-Racer" Zurman to Southern California’s Premier Slot Car Racing Organization. Michael "Big Hand" Taylor and Dennis "What Da" Tate also made guest appearances at Fall Series Race #2 at *The Big Shop* just for the fun of it! Are Championship Points Series points retroactive with your annual membership dues? You bet!
*Big Shop Tech Sheet Trivia*
The 12 man Modified race saw not only the year's largest turnout but also some of the closest racing. 11 of the 12 that started finished their semis under power with only 30 laps separating 1st from 11th. Then, only 18 laps separated the entire 6 man Main Event! The 9 man *Restricted Open* race included at least two Tycos, Tomys, Patriots AND Panthers with a decidedly split podium. Next time Gean! 7 of 9 finished under power with the top six separated by only 18 laps! The 10 man *Neo* race again saw a wide distribution of chassis choice and 9 of 10 finished what they started. This time the top 6 were only separated by 37 laps!
*Cruisin' Bob Scott*
The *Speed Merchants Long Distance Award* goes to *Bob Scott* who came from the Solano County Fair in Vallejo all the way to San Diego just for the grilled tuna! Bob also earned The Big Shop Long Distance Award when his Neo car flew through the family room and into the TV room. And if that wasn't enough he also landed in the dog's water dish!

The first annual *Apex Invitational Cup* sponsored by *Mike Low* of *Apex Racing* is at *Fall Series Race #3* at *Ruiz Raceway* on August 26. You want it? Come and get it!

It's ALL About The Tracks

Speed Merchants is built on the active involvement of six different Southern California H.O. track owners. Each one maintains dedicated racing facilities for their superior commercial quality tracks. After eight races in less than seven months (plus a Progressive Enduro just for fun), the Speed Merchants schedule finally touched all the bases at The Big Shop Barbecue Race.

One reason Speed Merchants is Southern California’s Premier Slot Car Racing Organization is because the innovative "market based" Technical Rules are specifically designed to support racing High Tech Cars on High Tech Tracks.

The Speed Merchants "Track Tech Sheet" features six professionally built tracks all with Neo racing in mind! All six have battery power, five have continuous rail, five have custom racing surfaces, five have similar rail heights and straightaway lengths, five have the same PC based race system (LaneMaster), and four have custom routed slot layouts. The roster includes two 21st Century tracks and two Bucktrax as well. Even the plastic Pocket Rocket track has sturdy Model Motoring sections with epoxied joints and ground rail for smoothness.

With all the Wizzard Patriots and Slottech Panthers running around with the Tycos and Tomys these days, only Speed Merchants has The Tracks that are up to the challenge!
