Riverside Raceway
is producing some REAL young talent from the ranks of our junior racers.
In 1999 alone we have produced 3 National Champions and a runner up.
In May of this year, 15 year old Kevin Noon became British Slot Car Racing Association National Novice Champion. Kevin is now racing both 1/32nd & 1/24th Scale slot cars in addition to the Scalextric racing he
started out with and is showing great promise for National standard racing in the millennium year.
The National Scalextric Championships (held in Manchester) was yet another result for Riverside’s juniors. Young Lewis Williams (8) took the National under 9’s Championship.
Marcus Ridley (13) won the National under 15’s Championship and Holly Ridley, Marcus’s 14 year old sister was Runner-Up in the under 15’s class.
Looking to the future, our juniors are refining their skills and we hope for yet another BSCRA National Novice Champion. in the millennium. Despite his lack of physical stature, Alex Newton (12) is more than making
up for his height with an almost uncanny skill level, displaying an ability to drive any slot car from production S16d’s to Eurosport and giving the adults a hard time into the bargain.
